Every weekend in Nigeria, a wedding takes place. Wedding ceremonies in Nigeria are a big deal so everyone puts in a lot of effort to look their best.
A constant at every Nigerian wedding is the agbada.
The agbada is the Yoruba name for a flowing robe worn by men in Western Africa especially in Nigeria. It’s also called babban riga by the Hausa people.
It’s decorated with intricate embroidery and worn on special occasions such as weddings, funerals etc.
It’s a full formal attire made of three pieces of clothing; a pair of tie-up trousers, a long-sleeved shirt and a wide, open- stitched sleeveless gown worn over these.
My agbada is made from linen. It’s a bit heavy but I love how it flows.
I’m styling it with a hat which is a type of soft fez. It’s a traditional Yoruba hat which can be made of hand woven Aso-Oke, cotton, velvet or damask. It’s called Fila by the Yoruba people. The one I have on is made from Aso-Oke.
I have accessorized with some gold neck chains and cufflinks scored from Asos.
What do you think of my outfit?

Love it. Clean, classic simplicity and quite elegant too. You wear it well and the smart decision to use breathable linen which is well suited to the climate is an excellent choice too.
Enjoying your postings, keep spoiling us the more with inspiring style choices.
